Build 22 — Newsprint: a quieter, sharper look

The whole app gets a new look — "Newsprint." It trades coral-accented cards for something more editorial: a near-black or warm-paper page structured by thin rules instead of boxes, square corners, big clear numerals, and a single restrained red used only where it counts. Categories become plain labels, the stray iOS blue is gone, and the Apple Watch gets the same treatment on a true-black face — plus new rest controls you can reach without touching your phone.

A new look — Newsprint

  • Rules, not cards. The library, the mid-set screen, a session summary — everything is now laid out like a training journal: hairline rules and columns instead of floating cards, with the corners squared off.
  • One accent, spent carefully. The coral that used to colour half the screen is now a single ink-red, kept for the thing that actually matters on each screen — the Log / Start action, a real warning, the live rep count. Everything else is ink on paper.
  • Plain categories. Strength, Rehab and Cardio read as quiet labels now instead of coloured tags — less noise, easier to scan down the list.
  • No more system blue. The tab bar and links are themed into the palette rather than the default iOS blue.
  • Same typefaces, bigger numbers. Reps, timers and weights stay centre stage and get more room.

On the Apple Watch

  • A true-black, editorial face that matches the phone — heart rate, the exercise, your set, and the rest countdown, no rings.
  • Rest controls on the wrist. New +0:30 and Skip buttons let you nudge the between-sets timer without reaching for your phone. The phone still owns the timer — the watch just talks to it.
  • Your set, on your wrist. The current set’s weight and reps now show alongside heart rate and elapsed time.
